I was there two nights for a gig on the second night. I'd been through a couple of times previously and stopped briefly to visit the road end of the seafront, so this was the first proper stay. Unfortunately the weather was wet, windy and cold but I saw enough from just walking around to know that it would be a good (quaint) place to visit for longer and to take in some of the local attractions based around the fossils found in the area.

A lively, bustling quintessential British seaside resort.
A lively, bustling quintessential British seaside resort. Almost too busy on sunny summer days, but lively and fun for everyone. Lots of lovely scrummy places to eat, jolly pubs, many summer events, and the same jolly atmosphere at Christmas time too - lights, carols around the Christmas tree, etc ! But…..Prepare to pay a lot for parking! Or arrive by train to Axminster and catch the bus to the centre of Lyme from the station. Shop at Ammonite Fine Foods for holiday presents - (disclosure …my sister owns it !)

We have visited Lyme Regis many times.
We have visited Lyme Regis many times. We enjoy walking through the gardens and around the harbour. The town is quite steep and cobbled so not for infirm or elderly. We ate in our favourite pub The Royal Standard. They have a friendly atmosphere and pool table. Food is delicious there. Also Badger and Beach is friendly and makes lovely coffee.

Lovely selection of shops, pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance if somewhat hilly! Unfortunately at the time of our visit some roads into the town centre were closed making access by car difficult. Also one walk planned along the river Lim to Uplyme was not possible again due to the footpath being closed. However, still plenty of coastal walks to choose from.

Lyme was beautiful, plenty of independent shops, with great pubs and restaurants. We especially liked the walk along the promenade and out onto the Cobb, (a bit scary). Some of the pubs and restaurants had great views over the sea. We particularly liked the Volunteer , the food was home cooked and delicious, the Cobb, was another favourite for sitting outside having a drink overlooking the harbour. There are plenty of shopping opportunities, fossil shops selling beautiful jewellery, (I had to be dragged away!) . All in all even though we had some days of rain, we had a great time.
Truly Beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean with fabulous furnishings. The staff are wonderful, very kind, caring and will help you with any requirements. The breakfasts are outstanding, fresh drinks and pastries and what's more is the cooked breakfasts are truly delicious. Really lovely towels supplied and the beds are so comfy, the best night's sleep my partner and I have had in a long time. If you have never visited here, we highly recommend it. It is best to book with them directly than on Booking.com
We were down in Lyme Regis for a friends wedding and this was great for us, amazing location - less than 10 min walk down to the seafront, lovely room with sea view, super comfortable bed. All the little extras really gave it a nice touch i.e. mini fridge in room with a glass bottle for water and another for milk, plates bowls and cups in the room, mini coffee setup etc. They provided a map and an information sheet with all the things we could need to know, which was very helpful.
It was bigger than I expected, decorated so lovely. Clean. Great location, really quiet location but also a short walk from town. Just perfect. I would 100% stay again we lived our time in Lyme Regis.
Little details like having things to wash up and hand soap, toilet roll etc. I didn’t expect to be there
We stayed with a 6 year old and a 1.5 year old, they have a travel cot and high chair which were set up for when we got there
The communication with the host was excellent. Response was very speedy and friendly. We’ve stayed in Lyme Regis for over 20 years including when the building we were in was a hotel and this was probably the best location we had. I say this with caution as it may affect our ability to book it in the future!!
The tea, coffee and associated supplies were a really nice touch.
We certainly hope to stay again.
We got an email from the host with specific and accessible directions. The location was perfect for our stay and because we went just as the season was coming to a close, there were only a couple of other guests staying near the property, so it was nice and quiet! It is a small place, but it provided everything we needed for our time in Lyme Regis!
Fernhill really is a quintessentially British hotel. The location is the perfect spot, set into the quiet countryside but only a short walk into the hustle and bustle of the beach. Jo and her staff were incredibly accomodating and made our stay easy and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here.
Lovely traditional olde worlde hotel with period charm. The room was of an exceptional standard and the full English breakfast was scrumptious. Croissants were available too which was an added bonus. I enjoyed a half hour swim in the hotel's very warm indoor swimming pool.
The property and hosts exceeded our expectations. A very comfortable room for the night with great hosts that made sure all their guests were accommodated to the highest standard. We'll look forward to using this property again when we visit Lyme Regis.
Great location with parking. The room we stayed in went above are expectations and very clean with a large en suite. The breakfast was definitely the best I have ever eaten at a B&B/hotel and the owners of the property were so welcoming and friendly.
The location and friendliness, helpfulness of the staff. Unlike the last dog friendly hotel I stayed in the area they were relaxed about check in and check out and couldn’t do enough to help . Great breakfast and lovely unintrusive atmosphere.
Brilliant location. Practically next door to the best bakery in town, just a few steps to the beach and the shops. The accommodation itself was comfy and it was a great base for our time in Lyme Regis. And it comes with parking!!
Everyone was so lovely! Perfect location! Literally around the corner from all the shops and the restaurants, right next to Lyme regis brewery, lovely short walk to the beach! Got lots of great tips for fossil hunting!
Nice hotel, we walked into the town, love Lyme Regis.
Nice breakfast, evening meal was good also.
Big car Park
Hostess was very nice, helpful.
The hotel has incredible potential
Comfortable room, except for for heating issues noted below. Friendly, helpful staff; good location within easy walking distance of Lyme Regis attractions.
